La Sardana

Travelling time : 20 minutes.

This small underwater mountain, in front of the Crit beach, is 200 metres offshore and is part of the rocks which border the Illes Formigas and reach the Lloça de Levant.

Its summit, at a depth of only 12 metres, is protected by numerous shoals of saddled sea bream (Oblada melanura) and damselfish (Chromis chromis). The side facing the land gradually descends to a depth of 19 metres.

Here is the empire belonging to the posidonia (Posidonia oceanica), loose stones, majestic rays (Myliobatis aquilla) with their low flight, wrasse (Crenilabrus Ocellatus), ornate wrasse (Thalassoma pavo), gobis (Gobius cruentatus), picarel (Maena maena) and corvinas (Sciaena umbra).

The deeper North and East walls descend rapidly to 32 metres and have many hidey-holes. Here you can see and admire the much sought after red coral (Corallium rubrum), lobsters (Palinurus elephas), scorpion fish (Scorpaena porcus), groupers (Epiphelus guaza), etc.
