Roca del Calipso

Travelling time: 10 minutes

Located in front of the Cape of San Sebastian and 200 metres offshore is an underwater mountain whose summit is at 20 metres.

It is covered with red gorgonia (Paramucea clavata, Eunicella cavolinii) amongst many swallow tail sea perch (Anthias anthias) that seem to want to protect the silent and immobile scorpion fish (Scorpaena porcus) discreetly laying on the bottom.

The South face is more abrupt and descends to 40 metres. Here white sea bream (Diplodus sargus), common two-banded sea bream (Diplodus vulgaris), common pandora (Pagellus acarne), common dentex (Dentex dentex) and fork beards (Phycis physcis) are the most abundant species.

The North side descends more gradually amongst many passageways, openings full of red coral (Corallium rubrum), lobsters (Palinurus elephas), Norway lobsters (Scillarides latus) and small groupers (Epinepheus guaza) down to 34 metres.
